I have a brand new (2 hours total bulb use time) BenQ MX631ST projector that keeps shutting off every few minutes, with the “Lamp” light lit up red. According to the projector manual this indicates “Lamp 1 error in normal operation”. The manual also states that the projector should not be used in a vertical position as this may cause lamp damage or malfunction.

Has anyone else using this projector experienced this issue or did I just get a defective bulb?

    Cheers

It might be overheating. Check that there is sufficient airflow around the projector.

Thanks for the reply. The “Temp” indicator light that would seem to indicate overheating doesn’t light up.

I have spoken to BenQ tech support a couple of times and they seem to think it is just a defective lamp or projector.

    Cheers
