I’m going to have a few questions over the next few weeks…

Looking to build an AR Sandbox. With any planed new versions of the software, is the 1070 video card more than sufficient, or should I spring for the 1080. While I understand that I need the 970 or 1070 to properly render the water, I’m wondering if it would be wise to get the 1080 (or if the 1080 is compatible.)

Another thought, as I’ve been searching the internet. Someone else mentioned the 480 model video card. Are there any other options, as the video card is half (or a third) the cost of the computer.

I can say with the sandbox I just built running a 970 at 1920×1080 the water simulation is perfect. My guess is a 1070 will handle it just fine.

Thanks Ryan. Do I really need an i7? When I started looking at the GeForce 970’s I can get an i5 at about 3GHz for half of what I can get an i7 with the 1070.

I am thinking about future proofing the desktop for new versions of the sandbox software, but since I haven’t used it yet, I’m not really sure what we need.

I went with a i7-7700 just to be safe and as you said, future proofing. My understanding is the heavy lifting is done on the GPU. So I would assume a higher end i5 would be fine but it would wait for Oliver to respond.
