I just got started on this and I’m very excited to get going on it. I’ve got the projector and sand. Kinect is on its way. Does anyone have good plans for a rolling station made out of wood? I also have thought about welding one out of aluminum…

    THANK YOU!
Just got our first AR Sandbox working at the Glendale
Community College STEM Club, Arizona. I am taking notes on things
I wish I knew ahead of time on the MINT, GPU and calibration.
I hope to post some tips and tricks.

    Hello
I am in a very beginning stage of making AR Sand Box for our Non-profit organization named as OMCAR Foundation, India. We receive about 100 students from remote village schools to our centre, to learn about local nature and environment and science education for free. I am a professional marine biologist, but very much interested in building AR sandbox for the student visitors. I need all of your technical support. Thank You.

    Hi Oliver,

This is prakash narayanan from India

Thank you for sharing all the information regarding building an arsandbox. I have successfully built one. Technically this should be india’s first sandbox available for schools.

Sharing the link for pictures and videos : Isandplay – India’s first AR sandbox

    regards

I have a school bus I converted to an interactive science “Fun House” (for lack of a good word). I take it from coast to coast visiting underserved kids. My inspiration for the bus, and now for the SARndbox, came from Erik Herman (Ithaca Physics Bus), a pioneer in tinkering and invention, whose lead I followed in my bus conversion.

I’m going into this a little blind and have some questions that I hope you can help me with:
    1) Does the graphics card have to come from Nvidia, or could I use a cheaper (PNY) version?
    2) Do I need anything more than an i5 processor?

My understanding, from the reading I’ve done is that the graphics board just needs 2GB, and the processor could even be an i3, but that was written 4 years ago. I had planned to use a GTX 970, but it looks like you all are using a GTX 1060. I have a very tight budget. All advice is welcome.

I’m an old man who is new to forums. I apologize for my faux pas in advance. (I take criticism and advice enthusiastically, though). Thanks very much.

    John Perkins
