    I’ve seen the sandbox run at AWE2017 and people just walked to it and were patient and waiting for other people to make space. It didn’t create a line or a queue but rather a swarm, and it just managed itself.
    Those were adults though. It’s different if kids are involved.

    Lots of ways to control a crowd around this, but I’d say no matter which approach you take, most importantly be flexible and leave yourself time to teach, to explain, to answer questions. Don’t implement a system that stops you from having fun showing off your creation.

    Last 2 cents, if you make the visit a structured one where people should “do A, then try B, then achieve C” then you better control the time and when a person is done doing the things suggested they move along.
