As far as I’m aware, you do not need an image flip mode on your projector. You can just set up the sandbox as usual, and the last step in the calibration process takes care of the orientation.

70″ above the surface seems like a lot, even for a non-short throw projector. Ours is not short throw and it rests at 40″ like in the image here: http://idav.ucdavis.edu/~okreylos/ResDev/SARndbox/. Have you tested the setup yet?

Hi Bill – a question about this. You say that the whole package costs about 10 dollars, but is this including the keyboard controller? Did you purchase that from somewhere else, or did you break open a keyboard to do that? I would love to make a bunch of these for several installations.

Hi Ross, if you see that text in Terminal, you can immediately type your password and press enter. You do not see any asterisks * – just trust that you are pressing the right keys.

    Hi Thomwolf -I solved it.

My solution was that I had used installdevrule instead of installudevrule.

So I went back into the Kinect folder and used

    make clean
    make
    make install
    make installudevrule

    and then rebooted 🙂

I just installed the sandbox for the 3rd time, and it’s working great. It’s just that in this version, it seems I always have to run the program with sudo, which is annoying. I want the machine to auto-boot into the software, and not get a keyboard to enter this. Working with the latest release of Ubuntu by the way.
Am I doing something wrong with the permissions?

Another question: is there a way to use the lava function?

OK – so the crash issue has been fixed thanks to a mail from Oliver. It was just a matter of clicking with the mouse once, and this seems to be an issue with Vrui-3.1.

The inverted depth still remains, and I’m currently wondering if it has to do with the Kinect depth calibration.
