Hi Lucie, you have to look this post in the sandbox forum:

With the LWO files I export it as .ply or pointclod files and you can work with them in a GIS software.

Additionally, maybe this information can help you:

    From the Tangible Landscape site:
”’Tangible Landscape (formerly known as TanGeoMS) is a collaborative modeling environment for analysis of terrain changes. We couple a scanner, projector and a physical 3D model with GRASS GIS. We can analyze the impact of terrain changes by capturing the changes on the model, bringing them into the GIS, performing desired analysis or simulation and projecting the results back on the model in real-time. Tangible Landscape, as an easy-to-use 3D sketching tool, enables rapid design and scenarios testing for people with different backgrounds and computer knowledge, as well as support for decision-making process”’

Unfortunately, it doesn’t work with the kinect that uses the sandbox, you have to purchase a kinect 2.0 and also and adapter for the computer.
I have it and is amazing for research and also for teaching in school, I have the pdf that explain everything of the tangible landscape, if you give me and email address I can send it to you.

The Sandbox will not run with Xbox One Kinect. You can see this page: into Hardware Requeriments paragraph. I built a sandbox using first model of kinect (model 1414) and it runs very great.

I built a sandbox using white marble powder, you can purchase it in hardware stores or building materials stores. It makes a lot of dust but adding a little of water you can remove it.

    Hi there!

I have a VSARndbox up and running using Linux Mint using a Kinect for Xbox 1473. It works great. I have been trying to capture *.lwo files following the LWOwriter of this topic nevertheless I get the following error message:
    I ran ~/Vrui-3.1/bin/KinectViewer -c 0
    and created SavedStreams0001 files

    /home/trinidad/src/Kinect-2.8-002/bin/LWOWriter SavedStreams0001 SavedStreams0001.lwo 60 60

according to the code from August 31, 2015 at 3:02 pm post
I get an error the following error message:

Processing frame 0terminate called after throwing an instance of ‘std::runtime_error’
what(): IFFChunkWriter::writeChunk: Chunk is too large to write

I really need to get the LWO files in order to build 3D mesh.

    Thanks in advance Alberto GT
